Life In a Purple Haze

Just when you think things are starting to settle down in the purple state of Wisconsin, two members of our State Supreme Court decide to duke it out over the leadership, or lack there of, coming from the Chief Justice.  Accounts differ but what is known is that Justice Prosser and Justice Bradley don’t like each other and that their disdain boiled over into a physical confrontation of some magnitude.  I will post more about this particular story as more facts become available, but for now it is my backdrop to the rest of my ramblings.

If you live in Wisconsin then this tale might bore you, after all we have been living in this purple haze since February.  For the rest of you. allow me to tell you a story that even I wouldn’t believe if I didn’t see it unfold with my own eyes.  Last November the Republican Party enjoyed major victories throughout the country and the proud state of Wisconsin was no exception.  In one election cycle we elected a Republican Governor, a Republican Senator, and gave a solid majority to the GOP in our state Senate and Legislature.  Conservatives rejoiced and the lefties cried in their overpriced cup of herbal tea, but no one could have foreseen what was next.

To make a long story short, Wisconsin, like many other states in the union, was facing a serious budget shortfall.  3.6 billion dollar shortfall to be specific.  Gov Walker decided the best way to balance the budget was to make public employee benefit package more in line with the rest of the country.  In order to achieve that he would have to eliminate collective bargaining.  Well since then I have witnessed the following, Dem State Senators flee the state in order to avoid a vote.  Mass protests in and around my state capital.  Hordes of Socialists and Communists sleeping in the Capital rotunda.  Republican officials receiving death threats over their vote.  An overzealous Secretary of State using his office to hold up law.  An ideological local judge holding up the will of the people based on nothing. A Supreme court race that shouldn’t have even been close based on merit, is won by only 7,000 votes, and took more than a month to come to a conclusion.  More protestors, this time the bottom of the barrel sort.  Zombies protest a Special Olympics event and smelly dudes living in tents outside the Capital.  Now this latest fiasco from our Court Justices.

What all this points to is that Wisconsin has officially become a 50/50 state and as a 50/50 state we will continue to see this madness.  Better to be purple and crazy than to be blue and in debt.  Well there is more that can be said but my head grows weary.  I will leave you with a verse from one of my  new favorite songs:

Purple haze all in my brain
lately things don’t seem the same
Acting funny and i don’t know why
excuse me while i kiss the sky

Move Over Sarah It Is Michelle’s Turn

Recent polling has shown a serious shift in the GOP field.  While Romney the Rino still looks to be the favorite, Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann has gained some serious momentum from her outstanding performance during the last GOP debate.  In fact Bachmann is beating Romney in a few polls that don’t include Sarah Palin as a candidate.  That is why I am kindly asking the former Governor of the great state of Alaska not to enter this race.  In fact Sarah if you are the Patriot you claim to be then it is your duty to step out of the way and allow Bachmann a real chance at the nomination.

Let’s be honest here there isn’t room in the GOP field for 2 strong, articulate, attractive, conservative women.  Both of these ladies attract a similar type of voter to them.  Both Sarah and Michelle are popular among Tea Party conservatives and social conservatives.   Both of them are great orators with the ability to whip up a crowd of supporters into a frenzy.  Both Sarah and Michelle would make great Presidents but between the two  only Michelle would make a great candidate.

Many of my conservatives friends think I am nuts to suggest that Michelle Bachmann would make an ideal Presidential candidate.  After all she gets trashed on TV and in the papers all the time.  They point out the gaffes she has made since taking public office.  They will tell me the people in her home state of Minnesota thinks she is a moon bat.  My reply is always the same:  So what!!  Whoever gets the nomination will be trashed by the drive by media.  As for her gaffes, I am pretty sure she knows there aren’t 57 states which puts her ahead of President Obama and as far as Minnesota is concerned, this is the same state that elected a professional wrestler for Governor and Al Franken for Senate so they are in no position to lecture us who to vote for.

So Sarah keep on touring the US.  Keep attacking Obama and the rest of his cronies in DC.  Continue to drive the liberals nuts, but please I beg you, step aside and let the only conservative woman who has a chance to beat Obama get her shot.  Your Nation is depending on you Sarah, don’t let us down.

The Underestimation Of President Obama

Many of my conservative friends have spent the last 2 and half years belittling the brain capacity of President Obama.  While I do appreciate the humor, I do not agree with their assertions.  President Obama is not just smart, the man is brilliant. How else can you explain how he still enjoys considerable support event though the Nation is heading into economic ruin?  As of today President Obama enjoys a 45% approval rating.  Normally that would be considered bad but when you consider 9% unemployment, 14 trillion dollar deficit, the potential of a second recession and a illegal war in Libya, that number is solid.

I believe Obama is actually reveling in these bad economic times.  In the mind of a Socialist a bad economy means more government dependency which is what a Socialist politician needs to get re elected.  Obama believes in his heart of hearts that he can still pass the blame to President Bush and get re elected even with his crumbling economy.  After all who wants to change leaders in the middle of a crisis?  Look for words like consistency and stay the course to be Obama taglines during 2012.  We can laugh about his terrible policies all we want, but if he is successful and earns a second term the only ones that will be laughing will be the haters of America throughout the rest of the World.

A Tale of Two Wisconsins

Over the weekend I had the opportunity to put my words and thoughts to action by participating in a silent demonstration to support Gov Walker and the legislators that support his pro growth agenda. As I proudly paraded around with my “Scott Walker my hero” t-shirt, it suddenly struck me that we are truly living in incredible times. Who of would of thought 8 years ago that we would have conceal carry, voter ID, and a Budget Repair Bill that actually will repair things? I personally would of been overjoyed if someone told me we would achieve any one of these three, much less have all them done and part of Wisconsin law.

The people on the other end of the political spectrum have been living the unicorn and rainbow lifestyle for a real long time in Wisconsin. Even under the Thompson administration, public employees enjoyed the benefit of a friendly Governor and legislature. This is exactly why they are throwing the tantrums they are today. Add the most liberal campus in the country into the mix and you get you get exactly what we have gotten, mob rule. It was amazing to watch the combination of groups that came to the aid of Wisconsin public service employees. Do any of us really believe our garbage men or our police officers agree  politically with Socialist party members ? I bet the vast majority of them don’t, yet there they were walking in lockstep with them day after day in Madison. If politics do indeed make strange bed fellows we should consider the protests in Madison to be an orgy of Caligulian proportions.

So now we enter into the next phase, the recall elections. Based on the numbers from the Supreme Court race there are 2 Republicans in real trouble and one who could be in for a real dog fight. There are also 2 Democrats in trouble and a 3rd one, Wirch, that can be defeated if the GOP candidate really busts his hump. I personally don’t see more than a +1 change either way. I don’t see a scenario where the GOP loses control of the Senate. If that is the case there is one thing I can predict, you will be seeing more of Segway Guy and Pink Dress Guy at the Capital. That is fine, let them win the protest war, we will continue to win where it matters the most, the ballot box.
